THQ President Clarifies ‘Other Interesting Games’ Quote

A few days ago the recently appointed president of THQ Jason Rubin was quoted as stating, “I can get the team to make other interesting games” in reference to the team at Vigil Games. Here at Darksiders Dungeon we speculated what this could potentially mean that the team could be used to develop more main stream type games that have the potential to push multiple million copies. Many websites around the net speculated that this could mean that Darksiders II would be the last game in the series unless it sold incredibly well. The interview with Rubin was in reference to trying to get a game to break the barrier and sell as well as Skyrim or Red Dead Redemption.

After days of discussion on the internet, Rubin has released a follow up statement addressing his initial quote. This time taking a step back and tossing his full support behind Darksiders II and the series moving forward. He even released some news, stating that a new trailer for the game will be available on Monday. Go ahead and make the jump to check out the full quote.

To all Darksiders Fans,

A quote from a recent interview I did has been reported out of context by a number of news outlets. The quote implied that I am not enthusiastically behind the Darksiders universe, and that THQ has made decisions not to continue the Darksiders franchise. This is simply untrue. My quote “I can get the team to make other interesting games” was intended in the context of having different teams within this incredibly talented studio work on new original IP, as well as continuing to support the Darksiders franchise.

I enjoyed the original game when it came out, and one of my first tweets as President of THQ was “Best part of my new job at THQ? When the Darksiders II playable suddenly drops on my desk… @thq”. Since that tweet I have been playing a lot of Darksiders II and it is far better than the first. I’m incredibly excited about Vigil and the Darksiders franchise. Keep your eyes peeled on Monday for an awesome new trailer that brings the world to life in a way you haven’t seen before!

Jason

There you have it folks. Darksiders is here to stay and now we have an excellent trailer to look forward to this coming Monday. Stay tuned!
