Ever notice the striking resemblance of Death and Skeletor from Masters of the Universe? Well it turns out that specific physical features of Death were changed, just so that the characters wouldn’t look identical. Darksiders II creative director Joe Madureira recently spoke with the folks over at Kotaku and addressed the comparison.
“We heard that early on and we laughed about it. Honestly, I think it was one of the reasons that I took the teeth off [Death's] mask, because I didn’t want it to be an actual skull face. Then it literally would be Skeletor. But we weren’t worried about it, it’s kind of funny, it’s kind of a funny connection.
I’ll take it, I like He-Man, I like Skeletor! It’s the 80′s comeback, man. And look, you’re never going to play a Skeletor game. It’s not going to happen, so you might as well just buy Darksiders II.”
So there you have it. If you need just one more reason to go out and purchase Darksiders II, than this is it. You won’t get a Skeletor game but at least you’ll get to play as Death in Darksiders II.
