Project Triforce Scythe to Cost $950

The Project Triforce Darksiders II Replica Scythe was on display at the 2012 New York Comic Con this past weekend. We finally have some hard data on this massive collectible, including its size, price, and release date.

Measuring at 5.8′ x 1′ x 6.6′, the item weighs 46 Lbs. This massive Scythe is limited to 500 of them and will be priced at $950 a piece. It is rather pricey, but considering how bulky this item is, it’s certainly worth it for those hardcore collectors out there. Set for a release day of 2nd Quarter 2013, you can pre-order the Scythe today at Project Triforce. Note, to pre-order this item, it requires a $237.50 deposit, which comes out to 1/4 of the total cost of the Scythe.

As much of a collector as I am… I think I might wait on this one. I think I’ll eventually pick it up, but it is dependent on a few factors. One of them being whether I have the money to toss at such an expensive item. Another being, in my office right now, there just isn’t any room for such a massive display item. Lastly, it has to do with a the future of the Darksiders series. At this point, nobody really knows if the series will even continue and whether Darksiders III will ever be made. I’m tentative on investing a lot of money into such a collectible, if the series doesn’t actually continue onward.

I trust the darksiders team they must be at work on 3 now because there are many questions left un answerd, also joe mad said himself that he wants to make a game for each horseman….. so i think we can trust a 3rd is well on its way

Why make such an over-priced item like this, that only the wealthy, or those who have nothing better to do with their money, can afford? So many would love to own one of these, but in this economic climate, making such an elitist item is just foolish. Is this what collectibles have come to? so few made for astronomical amounts of cash? The typical working stiff who likes games, but has to watch his/her dollars doesn’t stand a chance. The DSII Collector’s Edition proved that. I hope THQ makes more CEs for the next game so a lot more of us can enjoy them.

If it was 1/4th the size… and maybe 1/4th the cost… I think it would be more realistic. (Perhaps even smaller). The better question is, who has the room for these types of things. Seriously. 6 and a half feet wide!!!
