This might seem kind of strange and completely out of the blue, but a brand new Xbox 360 Bundle is has released featuring Darksiders II. Starting today at most major retail stores, you can purchase a 250GB Xbox 360 console that comes bundled with a digital copy of Batman: Arkham City as well as a physical copy of Darksiders II. The bundle is available at the price-point of $299.99. Considering both titles are two third party games that released for the Wii U, this might be Microsoft’s attempt to lure any Wii gamers that haven’t quite jumped over to the Wii U.
In any case, it’s nice to see this bundle release and hopefully prolong the Darksiders II life-cycle. The longer the game is still relevant, the more people will play it and hopefully increases the chances of us someday getting a Darksiders III.
Still holding out on picking up Darksiders II? Well over at Steam there is a massive sale on the recently released game, selling at 66% of its original price. Instead of the full $50 price point that it launched at back in August, the game is now available for just $17. Additionally the Prima Games Strategy Guide is available for just $6.80, or you can bundle the two together for $20.40.
If you are interested in getting this for Steam, you’ll have to act fast, as the deal is only good for another day and half. A similar deal is also available on Amazon, where the game is selling for $16.99.
With the present situation over at THQ, the performance of Darksiders II is very important this holiday season. There’s still hope that the reduced prices on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC versions of the game, along with the upcoming launch of the WiiU version of the game, can drive sales, hopefully reaching the initial bench marks set forth by THQ. Hopefully enough sales could be reached where Darksiders III is warranted. Only time will tell.
Have you still not picked up Darksiders II? Well over at Steam, there are some massive Darksiders II sales across the board. First and foremost, the actual game is on sale for 50% of, now available at the incredibly low price of $24.99!
In addition to the actual game, you can also get 50% of Argul’s Tomb, Death Rides, and the Darksiders II Season Pass. Heck, you can even purchase the original Darksiders for just $9.99. It’s quite a deal and now is as good of a time as ever to pickup these titles. While these sales come around every so often, I think it will be several months before we get a better deal than this. So if you want Darksiders II on the PC, jump on this deal while it lasts. You have to act quick though, as it is only available until October 7th.
A few days ago we reported about some sweet deals over at Amazon. Darksiders II was about 20% off on the PS3, 360, and PC. Amazon has since slashed the prices even further. While the PS3 and 360 version saw just an incremental drop in price, the PC version is now more than 30% off, selling at $33.99.
One of the big differences for the PC version that is available, is that it does not appear to be the Limited Edition. Thus, the Argul’s Tomb downloadable content, which is set to release tomorrow, will not be free. For those of you who already have Darksiders II, be sure to redeem your Argul’s Tomb DLC tomorrow when it becomes available.
Video Game analyst Michael Pachter recently weighed in on the sales numbers of Darksiders II and what the game needs to reach. “I think that the sales are below what they had hoped for. I presume it sold around 500,000 globally in the first two weeks, so it’s probably over 1 million now, but my understanding is that breakeven is greater than 2 million units, so it’s not likely to get much higher than that. We should probably give it another month and see if it’s tracking better.”
Thus far all we’ve heard from THQ is that the game needs to sell well in order for us to see a Darksiders III in the future. I’ve never heard the 2 million mark from THQ, but I suppose that is a reasonable mark. It’s hard to see what the exact numbers for what the sales are, but as of August 24th, 2012, Darksiders II sold 247,000 units in the US alone. This doesn’t include sales since August 24th, and also doesn’t include the European market, so it’s hard to track hard sales numbers at this point.
Over at Best Buy, customers can purchase Darksiders II for $10 off the retail price. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game are selling for $49.99 while the PC version is available for $39.99. The sale is set to last 7 days, so if you are still looking for a place to pickup Darksiders II, be sure to check out your local Best Buy.
According to NPD, reported via Game Informer, Darksiders II landed this week as the top selling game in August of 2012. According to these numbers over 247,000 copies of the game were sold in the month of August in the US alone. Darksiders II edged out New Super Mario Bros 2, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, and NCAA Football 13. The full Top 10 listing can be seen below.
1. Darksiders II (360, PS3, PC)
2. New Super Mario Bros 2 (3DS)
3. Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance (3DS)

If you haven’t picked up Darksiders II and want to grab it for the PC, now is a good opportunity. Over at Greenman Gaming, the pc version of Darksiders II is currently 30% off, selling at the price point of $34.99. All you have to do is enter the promotional code GMG30-916H7-0TH16. There is less than 24hours remaining on this online deal, as it is set to expire at 6am US Central Time. I’ve included the image with the promotional code after the jump.
The latest Darksiders II US pre-order numbers are now available. In this weeks update the Xbox 360 version added 2,027 pre-orders, giving it a total of 87,040, while the PS3 version added 1,806, giving it a total of 76,122. The two versions now have a combined 160,000+ pre-orders and with just 4 more weeks on the chart, I think numbers will really start to jump up. Usually pre-orders pick-up significantly in the last few weeks before release, so I think that the final numbers will still likely come close to the 250,000 mark.
With the release of NCAA Football 13 last week, both versions of Darksiders II climbed up the charts, with the 360 version now at the #12 slot and the PS3 version at the #15 slot. There is only 1 game on the Top 50 listing this week that is set for release and that is Heroes of Ruin for the Nintendo 3DS. I’m still waiting to see if the PC version of Darksiders II will make the listing, but as of now, it’s nowhere to be seen. You can go ahead and make the jump to check out this weeks full listing.
The latest pre-order numbers are in for Darksiders II and it was another week of stagnant growth. The 360 version added 2,820 pre-orders, giving it a total of 82,720, while the PS3 version added 1,853 pre-orders, now totaling 72,493. Combined the two versions total over 155,000 pre-orders, which is just short of the roughly 157,000 pre-orders the original Darksiders got between the two versions. I imagine by this time next week, Darksiders II will officially pass the original game in lifetime US pre-orders.
The 360 version remains at the #13 spot on the list, while the PS3 version moved up one spot to #17 on the chart. This past week LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes released for multiple consoles, while the soon to release NCAA Football 13 surged ahead of Darksiders II, causing the slight shift in this weeks rankings. Not a single game on the Top 50 is set to release this week, meaning not many gamers will be entering their retail stores. This likely means a rather shallow week in reserves coming up and it also means the PC version of Darksiders II will likely have to wait a little longer before it cracks the charts. You can go ahead and make the jump to check out this weeks complete numbers.
