Once regaining control over Death, several Construct Warriors will appear. These creatures are very slow moving and can easily be taken down with a variety of attacks. Defeat all these creatures and once again speak with Eideard.
There is a large statue in this area and if you look behind it, you’ll find a treasure chest containing some goodies. If you haven’t noticed it already, if you glance at your map you’ll see a yellow circle. This marks your destination point. The Forge Lands is not a very linear area, so this yellow point will certainly come in handy. Follow the pathway leading to the destination on your map. Follow the pathway and you’ll reach Tri-Stone, the central city hub within the Forge Lands.
The Maker that is in front of you is Thane and you can speak with him to participate in a side quest of sorts. You can battle Thane, however, Death is not nearly ready for such a battle and you will likely be defeated. Death can look around town if he’d like, but eventually, travel to the yellow circle on the map and speak with Alya.
Afterwords, speak with Thane and he’ll open the gate, allowing Death to pass. Travel onward and you’ll find a pool of water below. If you jump inside you’ll be able to find the first Boatman Coin. These coins can be traded in to a merchant later on in your quest.
From where you entered this area, run along the wall on the right side of the room and latch onto the hand hold. Walk around this area, jump down, and you’ll reach a wide open field known as Stonefather’s Vale.
While in Stonefather’s Vale, you can summon Despair in this area for quicker travel. If you’d like to progress in the main quest, just ride eastward through a narrow corridor to reach The Weeping Crag. However there are two goodies for us to collect here in Stonefather’s Vale. If you to the northwest part of this area, near the blocked door, you’ll find the second Boatman Coin hiding behind a tree.
Another goody can be found at the northeast portion of Stonefather’s Vale. All the way in the corner of this area, you will find a Book of the Dead page. This is part of a Side-Quest that we’ll talk more about in just a bit. As soon as you get the page, you’ll be ambushed by some enemy prowlers. These creatures shouldn’t give you too much trouble and can be defeated with simple attacks. Be careful as they can leap towards you from quite a distance. If you look closely there is a transparent enemy roaming around this area. This is part of a Side-Quest much later on in the game.
Ride eastward in the Stonefather’s Vale to reach The Weeping Crag. This is a completely optional dungeon, but it is a bit too difficult at this point. We’ll return here after completing the first dungeon. Continue along the pathway until you come to a fork in the road. If you head left, you will meet up with the Demon Merchant Vulgrim. This begins the Book of the Dead Side Quest.
There is also an easy to get Boatman Coin here in The Weeping Crag. Just underneath the bridge leading to the fork in the road, dive underwater and look around to collect the coin. You’ll have to scale the wall to the west to get back up near the bridge. Go back to the fork in the road and for the critical path, turn to the right and follow the corridor until you reach Baneswood.
The area is filled with enemy construct warriors, as well as several of extra treasures to find. None of this required, so if you’d like to progress along the critical path, follow the pathway all the way until you reach The Charred Pass. If you care to explore, there are a few goodies to find. First off, at the nowrthwest portion of Baneswood, there is a ruin that leads to a treasure chest with some loot.
At the southwest portion of Baneswood, there is a Boatman Coin hanging off a ledge. Leap off the cliff to grab the coin. Next travel to the east end of the main portion of Baneswood. There is a Maker statue here that is guarded by some construct warriors. Just behind the statue is a Book of the Dead page.
At the northeast corner of Baneswood, there is a mini-dungeon that will travel through later on in our quest. However, you can access the very first room that contains a treasure chest with some loot, as well as a Boatman Coin, that is hiding under the barrels near the stairs.
In the center of the large portion of Baneswood, there is a single treasure chest, just waiting to be opened. Do so and then ride eastward to reach the East Trail of Baneswood. Ride up the cliff on the south end of this area and you’ll find another treasure chest. Look around on this higher cliff and you’ll find a Boatman Coin.
Continue down the East Trail and you’ll find another abandoned ruin on the east side of the road that leads to a treasure chest. That’s about all there is to do in Baneswood, so continue following the path until you reach the Charred Pass.
Once you reach the Charred Pass, you will find a log on the left side. Check out the inside of the large log to find another Boatman Coin. Just beyond the log to the left, there is a pathway that leads to an optional dungeon. However, it will be quite awhile before we can journey down that road.
Continue down the trail and on the right side you will find a marsh. Just up the hill from the marsh, you’ll find a treasure chest with some loot. However, within the marsh there is a well that Death can dive down into. This underwater area leads to another treasure chest, but on the way back, Death will get yet another Boatman Coin.
Continue down the East Trail and you’ll find one last ruin to the south. Climb up to find yourself another treasure chest. That’s all there is to collect for now, so jump back on Despair and continue down the pathway.
Ride forward through this barren area and you’ll eventually catch up with another Maker known as Karn. Battle alongside him to defeat the many construct warriors. After defeating the enemies you can chat with Karn. If you have the Death Rides Pack, this will begin the Lost and Found Side-Quest, in which Karn asks you to find a missing item for him within the Cauldron. Afterwords he will lower the drawbridge allowing you to cross and enter the Cauldron. Before going in, you can check the pathway to the right to find a treasure chest containing some loot. Afterwords, head into the Cauldron.
Once you enter the Cauldron, walk over to the nearby switch and press the action button to push it in, causing a nearby door to open. Run on over and head through to the next room.
Defeat the construct warriors on the far side of the room and open the treasure chest nearby. Next, turn your attention to the north side of the room where you will see a switch across the lava. There is a shadow bomb nearby that Death can pickup and toss at the switch. Do so and this will cause a nearby door to open up. Defeat some more baddies in this next room. The door to the left is locked, so run straight ahead and progress to the next room.
Walk straight ahead and you’ll see the ground slopes downward towards the lava. You can pickup a boitman coin that is located right at the edge. Run over to the west end of the room and latch onto the hand hold. Face away from the wall and make a jump to get over to solid ground. Jump over the small gap and progress northward to the next part of the room.
Make a quick u-turn and look at the wall in the center of the room. Climb the hand hold here and then continue climbing before leaping over to the pillar. Jump over to some nearby planks and make your way to another hand hold at the west end of the room. Traverse across the room to some vines and then drop down to find a shadow bomb. Pick it up and toss it at the switch to the right, causing a nearby door to open up. You can jump down to the sloped ground area and then head through the door.
In this next room you’ll encounter plenty of construct warriors as well as a new construct adjunct. This enemy looks similar to its warrior counterpart, except it has the ability to toss objects towards Death. It isn’t too much of a challenge and Death should have no problem. After all the enemies have been defeated, head through the door that opens up.
Run straight ahead and you can open up the treasure chest to get the dungeon map. Then enter the large circular room and you’ll find several enemy construct warriors attacking a new enemy known as a stalker. It really is a sight to be seen. You can wait back and allow the construct warriors to weaken the stalker if you’d like. Eventually Death will need to jump into battle and fight off the creature himself. Stalkers are very agile and they primarily attack Death by swiping. They also perform a charge attack, which is much slower and can be easily avoided.
After defeating the Stalker, if you’ve started the Shaman’s Craft Side-Quest, Death will acquire Stalker’s Bone. After the enemies are defeated, be sure to break the debris at the north end of the room to collect a Boatman Coin. Afterwards, climb the steps and open the treasure chest to get a Skeleton Key.
After getting the key, the game prompts you to summon Dust so that he can light your way. Wall run your way across the south gap and then head back through the door at the end of the room. This will take you back to a previous room we already visited, but now Death can use the Skeleton Key on the marked door to the right.
Walk over to the blue orb in the room and grab onto it. Roll it so that it falls in place on the ground, causing it to turn red. This will create a peg in the wall that Death can use to climb up. Lean away from the hand hold and jump towards the center of the room to collect the floating Boatman Coin. You can also explore the area behind the large statue to the west to discover a treasure chest here. Afterwords, jump back to the hand hold and wall run over to some vines. Navigate through this passage and open another treasure chest for some goodies.
At the far end of this room, climb the wall and use the peg to reach the hand hold. Leap across to find a treasure chest here containing some more loot. Jump back across and use the hand holds to traverse across the room. Climb down the vines and then run over to the lever in the distance. Push it in, causing a nearby door to open up.
Defeat the enemies in this next room and you’ll see that the far door is locked. Instead, just enter the door to the west for now. Defeat the enemies and then turn to the right. There is corruption blocking the blue orb here. Near the corruption you will find a shadow bomb. Lift it up and toss it at the corruption to blow it up and free the blue orb.
There are a few slots where Death can push this blue orb, but the proper location is at the southeast part of the room. This will cause a nearby gate to open up with a second blue orb. Defeat the enemy and be sure to pickup the Book of the Dead page that is located just around the corner.
Now that you have access to this second blue orb, push it to fill one of the holes at the west end of the room. This will cause the gate to the west to partially open. You need to dislodge the first blue orb that we pushed. Do so by tossing a shadow bomb at it and then push it so that it fills the other hole at the west end of the room. With both orbs in place, the gate will open, so run on over and open the chest to get a Skeleton Key.
With the key in hand return to the previous room and then use that key on the locked door at the south end of the room. Once you enter this room, turn to the left and breaks the pots and boxes here to find a Boatman Coin. Straight ahead from where you entered the room, you will see a switch just in front of you, as well as a hand hold along the wall to the right. You need to push the switch in, which causes a cauldron to rise in the center of the room for a short while. Quickly run to the hand hold and climb across. Jump to the cauldron in the center of the room and use the hand holds to get to the other side. Face away from the cauldron and land safely at the east end.
Walk through the corridor to the south and use the various traversal mechanics to up to the second level of this room. Just to the left of the larger room you will find a shadow bomb, you can optionally use this to destroy the corruption below. This leads to a treasure chest with some loot, but getting it will require you to redo the pillar puzzle we just completed.
What you need to do to progress is use the shadow bomb and toss it at the switch across the gap. This will raise the bridge, allowing Death to cross. Climb up the steps and this will trigger a cutscene where Death will be confronted by a giant enemy known as Gharn.
Gharn will raise his massive spiky arm and try to swipe at Death with it. Furthermore, Gharn will occasionally slam his arm to the ground and charge right at Death. Fortunately, both of these attacks are very easy to avoid. After taking some damage, Gharn will drop to one knee, in which Death can then deal a considerable amount of damage as Gharn lays vulnerable. Be careful though, as after kneeling for a few moments, Gharn will teleport and cause damage to Death if he is nearby.
Just be careful and be sure to evade his attacks whenever possible. If you’ve chosen the Necromancer route, you can summon ghouls to do some damage to Gharn. After he is defeated, make your way through the door that opens up. Walk down the corridor and open the treasure chest here for some loot.
Continue to the next room and open the treasure chest found here for some more loot. Then walk to the center of this room and rotate the lever here, causing fire to start flowing once again and thus, completing the Cauldron.
Just to the right of the lever that you turned, you’ll find some debris. Break it to find the 4th Book of the Dead Page. Go through the nearby door and run down the stairs. In the center of the room between the rounding staircase, you will find a Boatman Coin. Jump off the ledge and collect the coin. At the bottom of the staircase, open the treasure chest to get some loot. Go through the nearby door to get back to the dungeon entrance. Go through the door to the left to get back outside.
