With The Cauldron now behind us, our next destination is back at Tri-Stone to speak with Alya. The fastest way to do so is to go to the world map and move the cursor over one of the icons on the overworld map and select Fast Travel. This will quickly transport Death to Tri-Stone, where he can go and speak with Alya.
Alya will give Death a special gift for his troubles, Redemption, one of Strife’s pistols. Redemption has an infinite amount of ammo, but it is a rather weak weapon. It works well at hitting flying targets, as well as chipping away at larger enemies. Additionally, the gun works well in restoring wrath.
Now that we have Redemption, there is a secret treasure chest we can get right here in Tri-Stone. There are five vases scattered throughout Tri-Stone and if Death breaks all five of them, a secret treasure chest will appear. You can find the five vases at the following locations.
Death’s next journey is to restore the Tears of the Mountain. To do so, we first must speak with Karn, who can now be found within Stonefather’s Vale. You can run on over there, or use Fast Travel to get to The Weeping Crag. From there ride on Despair to reach Karn.
After speaking with Karn, use Redemption and shoot the shadow bomb. Jump back on Despair and ride along into the Shadow Gorge. Once again, there are tons of things to find in this area, so feel free to look around to find all these goodies. For the critical path, continue riding along on Despair, following the pathway.
You’ll come across some Stingers along with a Stinger Hive. Defeat the Stingers using Redemption, however, they will keep on coming from the hive. You either want to avoid them entirely, or jump off of Despair and defeat the Hive. If you’ve been following the Shaman’s Craft Side-Quest, then when you defeat a Stiner, Death will get Mordant Dew, the second material that Muria needs.
There is a pathway to the north that you can explore if you’d like. This leads to the Shattered Forge, an optional dungeon in the Forge Lands. Death can explore the dungeon now if he’d like, but we’ll later get a side-quest specifically meant for this dungeon. However, if you explore the area, you can find a Boatman Coin hidden beneath the collapsed bridge.
Back on the main path, the gate ahead is blocked off, but if you look to the left you will see some corruption, along with a shadow bomb. Shoot the bomb with Redemption to clear the corruption. Climb up the wall and use the peg to reach the higher platform. Be sure to collect another Boatman Coin that is tucked behind the ledge.
Run ahead and the gates will close behind you, with a flood of Stingers and Savage Prowlers appearing. These prowlers are slightly more powerful and aggressive than the standard prowlers that Death encountered earlier. Defeat all the enemies and then continue onward. Before jumping downward, turn to the right to find a boatman coin.
Jump down and jump back on Despair. Ride forward and you’ll find yourself in The Fjord. There are tons of collectible items we can get here, but if you’d like to continue along the critical path, just follow the road and take the right pathway at the fork in the road to eventually reach The Drenchfort. Skip down to the entrance of the dungeon.
At the western part of The Fjord, on the higher ledge, Death will meet up with a new character known as Blackroot. Blackroot asks you to bring him stonebites that he can munch on. This will begin the Sticks and Stones Side-Quest. After getting the Lure Stone, Death will be able to collect three different types of Stone. He can bring these stones back to Blackroot for goodies.
With the Lure Stone, a soft ringing sound can be heard whenever a stonebite is nearby. Thereis a blue stone higher up on the cliff near Blackroot. Take aim with Redemption and shoot it to get the first Stone of Mystics.
Just off the cliff near Blackroot, you will see a Boatman Coin floating around. It is too high to just jump to, so what you’ll need to do is ride on Despair and leap off the ledge towards the Boatman Coin to collect it.
It’s worth noting that there are several stones that Death can now collect through the Forge Lands. We will be getting these just before taking on the Drenchfort. For now, progress southward through the Fjord and defeat the Prowlers and Stalkers that appear. Jump into the water at the south end of the the Fjord and you’ll find a collapsed bridge. Swim beneath the bridge to find another Boatman Coin.
If you climb on top of the collapsed bridge, you’ll find some corruption crystals to the north. Shoot a pair of Shadow Bombs near the crystals to blow them up. Then swim just beneath where the crystals were and climb the wall to reach the higher ledge. A treasure chest containing some loot can be found here.
There are a few other things you can do in The Fjord. If you swim to the southeast corner of the area, you’ll find Vulgrim in a small building. You can climb the wall here to get one of the two treasure chests. If you travel to the southwest part of the water, you will find a sleeping construct known as Oran. This will trigger the start of the Silent Stone Side-Quest, but there is nothing we can do with it for now. Lastly, just east of the water, there is building with two treasure chests. You can reach one of them by scaling the wall and making your way around to the chest.
Continue eastward along the Fjord until you reach a fork in the road. If you take the pathway to the left, it will eventually lead to a building that contains a pair of treasure chests. Once you enter the building you can turn around and look to the ceiling to find the first Stone of Power. Furthermore, you can search the crack in the wall to the west to find another Boatman Coin. There is more to do here, but we’ll need an ability that we won’t gain until much later in the quest.
Back outside, return to the fork in the road. If you look above, you’ll find a floating Boatman Coin. Scale the path to the south and then leap off the ledge to collect this Boatman Coin.
Follow the winding pathway to the south. As you travel keep your eyes on the wall to the right, as there still be a Stone of Mystic that you can collect. Shoot it with Redemption and then ride forward to reach the Drenchfort.
At this point, you can progress into the second dungeon if you’d like. However, there are NINE additional Stone of Mystics that can be collected, as well as a Stone of Power. You can Fast Travel to the various locations to grab these stones if you’d like and you can even trade them in to Blackroot to upgrade some of your skills. However, none of this is critical, so you can just enter the Drenchfort now.
Climb the steps and enter the actual dungeon. Walk down the first corridor, defeating any Stingers along the way. Continue along until you come to a room with some prowlers. After defeating them, you’ll find the nearby door is locked. Walk down the west hall and use the pegs to scale the wall. Pickup a shadow bomb and toss it across the room so that it latches onto the blue orb. Then shoot the bomb with redemption, causing it to explode and sending the blue orb down below. Jump down and push the blue orb to the hole, causing the door to open up.
Walk forward to reach the main chamber in this second dungeon. After a short scene, you’ll be able to search through this room at your leisure. There are plenty of goodies to collect here, but none of them are required. For the critical path, just turn to the left and head through the door in the distance. However, explore this room for some collectibles.
In the main chamber slowly walk to the northwest and if you look at the edge of the balcony, part of the ground is chipped and you can see the top of a hand hold. Grab onto the hand hold and then drop down to another hand hold. Wall run across to a peg and continue onward to reach an area with a Book of the Dead Page.
From where you collected the page, leap over to the platform to the west where the giant statues feet can be seen. Open the treasure chest found here. Turn around and face southward to find a stonebite on the wall. Shoot it with Redemption to collect the Stone of Mystics.
Drop down to the ground level and make your way to the west end of the room. Climb the hand holds and wooden peg to get back to the top. Climb the nearby staircase and make your way back up to the northwest corner of the room. Right at the corner of the northwest portion of the balcony, leap off the ledge to the higher platform below. Look around to find a Boatman Coin on this ledge. Drop down and once again climb the wooden pegs and hand holds to the west.
Make your way over to the southeast corner of the room and you’ll find a treasure chest here containing some loot. After collecting, climb up the nearby wall using the wooden pegs to reach the hand hold. Jump across a series of hand holds and head through the door to the east.
Climb over the rubble to the right and open the treasure chest to get some loot. Continue walking down the pathway towards the door. Don’t enter it just yet, but instead turn to the left to find a treasure chest. You can drop down to the area below and wall climb to reach this chest. Afterwards, climb back up on the other side, using the nearby hand hold. You can head through the nearby door if you’d like to progress through the critical path. For some optional loot, ignore the nearby door and instead, walk down the corridor and head through the door at the south end of the room.
Defeat all the prowlers and stingers that are found here and a giant Earth Crag will appear. This creature will charge towards Death striking to strike him with its teeth. The Earth Crag will also jump into the air and come slamming to the ground, dealing damage to anything nearby. Just dodge the attacks and slowly but surely wear down the creature. After it is defeated, open the treasure chest that is accessible for some loot. If you have the Death Rides DLC and have been following Karn’s Side-Quest, you can collection the Journeyman Helm at the southwest portion of this room. Afterwards, return to the previous room. Walk back down the corridor and now go through the door to the east.
Walk down this hallway and you’ll reach an open area. There are two blue orbs in this room and two slots on the ground. Turn to the right and jump into the water that is in the distance. Swim to the treasure chest on your map and open it up to get some loot. Afterwards, swim over to the nearby peg and use it to climb up to the higher platform.
You will need to wall run on the nearby wall, but while doing so, you can jump from the initial wall to the perpendicular wall. Use the two pegs to continue running, and then perform a second wall jump to eventually reach the blue orb. Push it down to the ground and slot it in the hole below.
Run to the other end of the room and use the hand holds to climb up. Just above the arch to the right you will find a boatman coin, so be sure to pick that up. Continue over the arch and you’ll find a treasure chest containing the dungeon map. Return to the arch and drop down on the other side of the gate.
Open the nearby treasure chest to get some loot and then turn your attention to the hand holds that are nearby. Climb on op and grab a shadow bomb. Run over to the northwest part of the room and use it to break up the corruption. Grab the blue orb and push it over to the locked gate. Once again climb the hand holds and grab a second shadow bomb. This time toss it so that it is sticks to the blue orb. Now climb the small platform in the middle of this area and step on the switch to lower the gate. While standing on the switch, shoot the shadow bomb that is on the blue orb, launching the ball to the main room.
Climb the hand holds and get back to the main part of the room. Push the second blue orb so it locks into the hole in the ground, causing the gate in the room to lower. Climb the steps and head through the door.
Walk down the corridor and defeat the stinger hive. Continue onward and head through the door in the distance. Defeat the enemies and you’ll find a shadow bomb nearby. Use it on the nearby corruption spikes to blow them up. Walk over and pull the lever, causing water to floor through this part of the dungeon.
Climb the steps and jump into the water. As you swim down the path, you’ll see a treasure chest on your map to the left. Jump up to the ledge and open it up to get some loot. Afterwards, jump back in the water and ride it all the way to the end of the path. Use the nearby hand hold to get back up and then head through the door to get back to the main room of the dungeon.
The water is now flowing, causing the water level of the dungeon to rise. Jump into the water and swim down the water corridor at the south end of the room. At the end of this path, you’ll collect a boatman coin. Climb up the hand holds here along with a peg. If you turn to the left and perform a series of wall jumps, you’ll reach a treasure chest with some loot. Afterwards, return to that hand hold, and this time run to the right to reach some vines.
Walk forward and you’ll be ambushed by several savage prowlers. Use whatever abilities you have at your disposal to get rid of them. After awhile, a giant savage stalker will fall into the room. As their name suggests, these are savage variants of the stalker. They will attack in combos and often times can be a bit tricky to avoid. Use your battle tested tactics to defeat this large beast.
After defeating the Savage Stalker, be sure to break all the pots and boxes found in the room. You will find a boatman coin hidden inside one of the boxes. Grab it and continue onward to the next room.
In the next room, running along the corridors and then drop down into the water channel. Follow it to the area below and walk through the hole in the wall to encounter some more savage prowlers. Defeat the enemies and open the nearby treasure chest to get a Skeleton Key. Backtrack through the hole in the wall and use the hand holds here to climb back up. Make your way over to the locked door and use the Skeleton Key to head on through.
Follow the pathway to get to another large room with a blue orb. Before doing anything, you can just run to the northwest corner of this room and open the treasure chest to get some loot. Climb the hand holds at the north end of the room and use a series of wall runs and wall jumps to traverse across this area. Once you reach the higher platform, walk around the corner and open the treasure chest to get some more loot.
At the south end of the room and you’ll find two hand holds just to the left of the corruption. Climb on up and use the shadow bomb to blowup the corruption. Open up the nearby treasure chest to get some more loot. Run down the ramp and grab onto the blue orb. You won’t be able to roll it up the ramp slowly, but Death can shove it, causing it to quickly move its way upwards. Roll it over and place it in the hole below.
We’re not quite done yet. Once again climb the hand holds and grab a shadow bomb. Walk over to the west end of the room, where the gears lowered the platform. Toss the shadow bomb onto the blue orb and then shoot it with redemption while standing on the platform. This will cause the platform to rise, allowing Death to reach the door at the west end of the room.
Defeat the stingers and stinger hive if you so please, and then head through the door. Climb the steps and shoot the shadow bombs to blow up the corruption. Now pull the lever in the room, causing the gate to rise and the water to flow.
Jump into the water and follow the pathway until it reaches a more open area. Jump onto the land straight ahead and just behind the rock you will find a Book of the Dead page. Swim through the small hole in the wall to get to the adjacent room. Climb up the hand holds to reach the higher platform. While holding on to the hand hold, you can lean away and you’ll see a Boatman Coin floating around. Leap off and grab it, and then climb back up the wall. Run ahead and pull the lever here, causing the water to flow even further.
Jump down and then head through the door that has opened up at the east end of the room to get back to the main dungeon chamber.
With all the water now flowing, the door at the south end of the room will be unlocked. Run on over and head through. Jump into the water and swim across to get to the other side. Go through the door here to reach the boss chamber. Grab onto the strange looking ball and shove it towards the large green object in this room to awaken the boss, Karkinos.
Karkinos is a larger version of the Earth Crag we fought earlier in the dungeon. Karkinos will curl up and launch itself towards Death. Avoid this attack and Karkinos will go crashing into the wall, causing one of those orbs to fall from the ceiling. This is actually an earth crag egg and it will hatch if left alone for a period of time. Before it is allowed to do so, run on over and grab the egg. Shove it so that it hits Karkinos, stunning the boss momentarily. Run on over and deliver sword slashes to its belly. Be careful as the egg that we just shoved will hatch into a small earth crag.
After taking quite a bit of damage Karkinos will move to the center of the room and partially burrow underground. Karkinos will send out some underground vine like enemies towards you and these can be quite difficult to avoid, but try to dash out of the way. Once Karkinos resurfaces, repeat the same process of tossing its own eggs at the boss and slashing at its belly.
After Karkinos has been defeated, Death will gain the Masher of Karkinos, a powerful level 8 hammer. Climb up the steps and pull the lever, causing the water to now flow all through the Forge Lands, completing The Drenchfort dungeon.
