Darksiders II Walkthrough: The Heart of the Mountain

Back at Stonefather’s Vale, use Fast Travel to get back to Tri-Stone. Run on over and speak with Elder Eideard. After speaking with him, go through the nearby door to get back to the Maker’s Forge. Run to the other end of the Forge and head through the door.

Walk over and speak with the Warden. After chatting with him, the warden will create a bridge, allowing you to reach the Foundry. Karn will join you and you’ll then regain control of Death. Run across the bridge to reach the Foundry.

Before entering the dungeon, open the treasure chest that is just to the left of the entrance. Also, on the right side of the entrance is a massive statue and there is a boatman coin nearby. With these items in hand, go ahead and enter the Foundry.

There is not much to do in the first room, so run straight ahead. Jump off the ledge to the left and open the treasure chest here to get some goodies. Climb back up and progress to the next room to reach a circular room. Run along to the west end of the room and Karn will call you over. Walk on over and press the action button, causing Karn to launch Death over the gap.

Once you land, run up the wall and use the peg to reach a hand hold. Move around the corner and then drop down to a wooden plank below. Jump and grab onto the cauldron as it passes by. Ride the cauldron southward and leap off to the east once you pass the wall as there is a treasure chest here. Open it up to get some loot.

Wall run across the gap and defeat some tainted construct warriors here. Then pull the nearby lever, causing the adjacent door to open up, so head on through.

Once you arrive you can hear Karn on the other side of the massive door. At the east end of the room there is a large orange switch. Climb on up to it and this will open the door, allowing Karn to re-enter the room. It will also open another one of these large storm doors and Karn will go and hold it open for you. Jump down and head on through.

Climb the steps and you’ll reach the large Guardian Assembly room. The massive Guardian awaits, but Death will first need to collect three heart stones. Defeat the tainted construct warriors that appear and then head through the passage at the northeast part of the room.

More tainted construct warriors await in this narrow passage, but they should be much trouble. Defeat them and press onward. Walk to the east end of the room and Karn will offer to toss you up to the higher ledge. Allow him to do so and then run across to the other side of this room to find a treasure chest with some loot.

Jump down into the water below and swim downward. You will see a Maker Custodian, but there isn’t much we can do with it for now. At the north end of the room you will find a boatman coin, so be sure to collect it. Swim over to the northeast part of the room and resurface. Scale the wall and grab onto the hand hold.

In this room you will find a blue orb, but there isn’t much we can do with it for now. Ignore it for now and jump in the water on the other side. Swim down the corridor to the right and dive deep to the bottom. Make a left and follow the pathway until you can come back up. Open the nearby treasure chest for some loot.

Step onto the switch to lower the nearby gate and jump back into the water. Swim eastward through the underwater area and eventually resurface by wall climbing. Step on the switch here and the large storm door will open. Karn will appear to hold it down once Death steps off the switch.

Jump down and then grab the blue orb. Roll it passed the storm door to get back to the larger room. Move to the south end of the room and there is an upward sloping ramp. There is a spot for the blue orb at the top of the ramp, but Death won’t be able to roll it up there. Line it up properly and shove the orb so it fits in the hole. This will cause that Maker Construct from the floor below to come up to this floor, allowing Death to use it.

Climb onto the Maker Construct and this will trigger several enemies to appear. Battle alongside Karn in getting rid of these tainted foes. After defeating them, roll over to the northwest part of the room and swipe with the custodian to break the corruption crystals. Jump of the custodian and climb the wall to reach a treasure chest filled with goodies.

Ride back through the corridor at the southwest part of the room. Break all the corruption crystals that are nearby and open the treasure chest for some more loot. Take the pathway on the right to get back to a previous room. Walk straight ahead and move the custodian so that the blue orb falls right into the hole in the ground. Extend the chain at the target in the distance.

Walk down the chain and then jump over to the vines at the southern wall. From there you can jump over to the wooden post and then to the wooden beam to reach the higher platform. Go through the door to get to the next room.

Wall run and jump to get to the hand holds on the far wall. Beware of the lava that is falling down and continue to traverse across this room. Go through the door and you’ll be confronted by several corrupted construct warriors. These are the strongest of the construct warrior family and can deliver quite the damage. Furthermore, after they are a defeated a corrupted construct champion appears. It’s a small chamber, so it can be difficult to avoid the enemies. Use your ghouls if you have them, or if you need, use Death’s Reaper form. After all the enemies have been defeated, progress onward to the next room.

Open the treasure chest here to get A Skeleton Key. Jump down to the chain below and make your way back to the maker custodian. Leave the custodian here for now, as we will be back for a treasure chest later on in the dungeon. Run over to the east end of the room and use the Skeleton Key on the locked door.

Climb the circular stairs and head through the door at the top. Allow Karn to toss you across the gap. Some corrupted construct warriors will appear, along with a corrupted construct adjunct. Defeat them and then be sure to open the nearby treasure chest to get the dungeon map. Climb back up and head through the door.

There is a strange looking object here, but so attack it with enemy of your weapons. After several hits Death will get the Deathgrip! This item works as a grappling hook of sorts, reminiscent to the abyssal chain from the original Darksiders. With your new item in hand, return to the previous room.

There is a small hoop near the ceiling, just over the large gap. If you jump towards it you can use your deathgrip to grab onto the hoop. This will allow Death to swing across and get back to the other wise.

We aren’t quite done in this room yet. Look back across the gap, but towards the bottom. You’ll see there is a small hoop down there. Swing back across and then drop down, so that Death can latch onto the hoop. Climb up and head around the corner. There are a few enemies here and it’s worth noting that Death can now use the Death grip to grab these enemies and pull them towards him. For larger enemies, Death will latch onto them and quickly get up close. Defeat the two corrupted construct creatures here.

There is a wall you can climb up, but there is no hand hold above. Instead, there is a hoop where you can use the Death Grip to continue your climb. Make it to the top and collect a Book of the Dead page. Jump down to the nearby platform and swing back across to get to Karn. Go back through the door here.

If you turn to the right you will see some corruption crystals. There is a shadow bomb just beyond and Death can use the Deathgrip to pull the bomb towards him. Use the bomb to blowup the corruption crystals and collect the loot from the treasure chest. Run back down the circular stairs and head through the door.

It’s now time to start getting those three heart stones. First things first though, let’s get that treasure chest we missed earlier. Don’t mind Karn if he runs off temporarily. Climb back on the chain of the maker construct and you will see a hoop to the right. Jump off the chain and use the Deathgrip to reach the platform here. Open the treasure chest to get some loot. Use the wall pegs to return back to the Maker Custodian.

Walk back to the southeast part of the room and Karn will take charge. Defeat any enemies that get in your way and follow Karn back to the Guardian Assembly room. In this small adjacent room, defeat the enemies that appear. Use the Deathgrip on the shadow bomb and then toss it at the far switch to raise the bridge. Run across and head through the door.

Right when you enter this room, turn to the left and jump across the set of beams. From there, jump to a platform and pull the lever to raise part of the bridge.

Run up the nearby wall to get on top of a beam. Jump from the beam and use the Deathgrip on the hoop to swing over to some vines. Climb across the vines to the far edge. Release from the vines and use the Deathgrip to latch onto another hoop. Land on the nearby platform and pull the second lever, completely raising the bridge.

Climb the wall to get on top of the beam. Climb up to the hand hold and then use a wall run to get back over to Karn. Cross the brdige and head through to the next room. Pull the lever in this elevator and it will drop down to the floor below. Go through the door to the west. Not much to see here, so continue on to the next room.

The first Heart Stone can be seen in the distance, but we’ll have to work to get it. Karn will offer to toss you across the lava. Allow him to do so to get over to a nearby platform. Jump across some beams to reach a hand hold. Wall run across the wall and use the Death Grip to reach some more hand holds. Continue working your way around until you reach some stable ground.

Immediately turn around and you’ll see the Death Grip loop straight ahead. There is a treasure chest just above it, so jump and use the Death Grip from here. Climb the wall and open the treasure chest to get some loot. To get back across hang from the hand hold and jump across.

Walk over and step on the nearby switch to lower the gate. Zip line over to Karn and he’ll immediately toss you even further across the room. Zip line through the hoop to get to the far wall. Traverse using a wall run and wall jump to reach the hand hold at the north part of the room. Climb up to find a treasure chest with some loot.

Drop back down to the lower hand hold and continue making your way around the room. Use the wooden posts to reach some stead ground. Drop down to the platform below and you’ll see a Maker Custodian in the distance. Jump towards it and use the Death Grip to zip line over.

Activate the custodian as you can use it to walk across the lava. Do so to reach the nearby treasure chest. Continue on the custodian towards the southwest part of the room. Strike the custodian crystals and continue onward until you see a hole in the ground where the custodian can rest. Stop there and then shoot the chain at the target in the distance.

Climb the chain and use the hand holds to reach the higher platform. Run ahead and you’ll find the first Heart Stone. Zip line over to it and Death will knock it down. Karn will come and pick up the massive stone. Return through the door that is straight ahead and then continue on to get back to the elevator.

As the elevator heads back up, an army of tainted construct warriors will appear. If you stay close to Karn, he will use the heart stone as a weapon, crushing the enemies in their tracks. Once the elevator reaches the top, head through the door and then backtrack to the Guardian, where the Heart Stone will be put in its place.

Some wood nearby will crumble, allowing Death to access a hoop. Use the death grip to get across and then travel through the small water tunnel. Some Noxious Stingers are found here, and these creatures are slightly more powerful than the their standard stinger counterparts. Defeat them if you’d like, but you can just ignore them In the distance you will see a boatman coin, but ignore it for now as we will be returning here in just a bit. Walk through the adjacent waterway.

Step on the floor switch and Karn will come on through. He’ll hold the next storm door as well, so sneak on through. Allow Karn to toss you over the gap and then use the Death Grip to further cross this area. Defeat the savage prowlers here and then make your way to the northeast part of the room. Slash at the nearby pots to find a boatman coin.

Run over and activate the Maker Custodian found here. Roll the construct over to the south end of the room and allow it to settle in the hole. Use the chain at the target and then dismount from the custodian.

Climb up to the center platform in this room by scaling the wall to the east. Turn the lever here and this will cause the Maker Custodian, as well as the chain to rise. The pillar on the left where the chain is connected to has two hand holds attach to it. After you’ve fully turned the lever, jump down and then quickly climb this pillar. Use the hand holds to quickly get up to the chain. From where jump over to the higher platform at the south end of the screen. You have to be quick as the chain will be lowering.

From here climb the vines and perform a wall run to reach a hand hold at the southwest part of this room. Continue to maneuver around and then drop down onto the higher ledge. Drop down here and pull the lever, causing bridges in the room to rise.

Turn back around and make your way over to the maker custodian once again. Detach the chain and ride him back towards Karn. With the bridges in place, ride the custodian over to the southwest part of the room. Smack the corruption crystals to clear the path.

Make your way through this corridor and you’ll find the second Heart stone. Use the Maker custodian to defeat all the enemies in this area. Get off the Maker custodian and dive into the water at the west end of the room. Swim underwater and you’ll find a boatman coin.

Now swim to the northeast corner of this room and you’ll find some vines. Scale the vines and latch onto a hand hold. Work your way around and then use the Death Grip on a hoop to climb higher to some more vines. Climb up and you’ll see a short cinematic of this new area.

Walk to the north part of this ledge and then follow the small platform here to reach a treasure chest. Now jump into the water here and swim down to the east end of the room where you will find another boatman coin.

Resurface near the center of this area and you will see a hoop where you can use the Death Grip. Do just that and climb up to a hand hold. Run to the left and make your way across a series of hand holds and death grip pegs. You’ll eventually reach a higher ledge that has a large lever. Pull the lever and this will cause water to flow to the western part of this room, activating some of the mechanical devices.

Just to the west of this higher platform is a lower platform with a treasure chest. Drop down and climb up to this higher platform. Open up the chest to get some additional loot.

Swim over to the southwest part of this area and climb up the wall here using the Death Grip. Jump down into the water on the west side of this room. Near the center of the room there is a wall peg that can be used to climb back up to the surface.

Jump back on the Maker Custodian and ride it to the southwest part of the room. Use its chain to break the corruption crystals found here. Walk over and Karn will launch you up to the higher area. Open the treasure chest to get a Skeleton Key.

Get on top of the Maker Custodian once again and this time ride to the northwest part of the room. Move the custodian so that it is right in the middle of the spiked machine found here. Jump off the custodian and pull the nearby lever, causing the spikes to smash the custodian into pieces, leaving only the orb. The cauldron will carry the orb, but will drop it at the southwest part of the room.

Grab the blue orb and ride it to the south end of the room. Use the Skeleton Key to unlock the door and then roll the blue orb to the next room. Place it in the hole near the south end of the room to lower the nearby gates.

There is an Earth Crag in this room, but Karn should make quick work of it. At the south end of the room use a few wall jumps to jump from wall to a wall to climb your way up to a hand hold. Drop down at this higher platform and then run on over to the second Heart Stone. Knock it down and Karn will come and pick it up.

With the Heart Stone in hand, return through the passage to the north. Along your way you will encounter some Nightmare Prowlers. These creatures are even more powerful than the savage prowlers we previously fought. Continue down this pathway to get back to the room with the bridges.

Jump into the water and climb up along the west wall. Move to the left and drop down at this higher platform. Make your way through the waterway and if you look through the blocked off waterway to the left, you will find a boatman coin. Get across to the other side and head back north through the waterway at the northwest part of the room.

Run ahead and step on this same switch like we did earlier and Karn will be able to return back to the Guardian room. The door will close behind you so you will have to head back through the waterway. Make an immediate right and go through another waterway to get back to the main chamber of the dungeon.

Karn will place the second heart stone into the guardian. Furthermore, now that the water is flowing, the lava is no longer filling this area. Follow Karn to the south end of the room and he’ll toss you over the nearby gate. Pull the lever to lower the gate.

Go back to the Guardian room and activate the Maker Custodian. Return to the adjacent room and smack away all the corruption crystals. Travel southward and you’ll see the final heart stone. Clear the area of corruption and drop the Maker Custodian into the hole in the center of the room. With the nearby gate lowered, climb the wall to the west.

Use the Death Grip on the hoop to swing over to a wooden post. Jump over to a number of posts to get down to a lower wooden poll. Wall run and use the Death Grip on the hoops along the way. Jump and use the Death Grip to get over to the final Heart Stone.

Karn will pick up the Heart Stone, but will note that there is something wrong with this one. The corruption from the stone will awaken the Maker Custodian. This will trigger the dungeon boss battle with the Corrupted Custodian.

The Custodian deals a massive amount of damage and is no easy battle. This battle, more than most of them, is about avoiding getting hit by the custodian’s massive arms. The custodian will smack his arms straight to the ground, but will also occasionally perform a spin attack. Both are devastating and need to be avoided.

The best bet is to summon ghouls if you have them and to also use your Reaper Form. Otherwise just use your weapon attacks and deal as much damage as you can. Whenever the custodian gears for an attack, quickly dodge out of the way.

Once the Corrupted Custodian has been defeated, return to the Guardian Assembly room so that Karn can place the final Heart Stone. A scene will take place where the massive Guardian is brought to life.

The Foundry is now behind us, but we first need to leave. Take the pathway at the northeast part of the room. Turn left at the fork in the road. Go through the crack in the wall at the northeast part of this room and use some basic traversal skills. Continue northward and exit the Foundry.
