Angel Champions are enemy angel featured in Darksiders.

[edit] Overview

Though most were murdered, broken, or exiled, there are still some Angel Champions on Earth. These deadly seraphim lead the charge against The Destroyer's armies, floating on armored, flame-spewing wings.

When airborne, they can weave through hell growth, ruins, and killing blows with an agility as impenetrable as any shield. They wield energy swords, with blades hot enough to slice hides that have been battle-cured by hellfire. At the hand of one true Champion of the Light, a legion of lesser demons may be decimated.

[edit] Darksiders

Angel Champions are some of strongest Angel within the Hellguard, bested only by Storm Wardens and the Archangels, including Abaddon, Uriel, and Azrael. Champions almost always come in groups, usually accompanied by several Light Angels or other Angel Champions. These fierce foes will take quite a few hits from War's Chaoseater before they are defeated. War could use his Chaos Form, but it still will take three full slashes to defeat the Champions.

While fighting with War, they will occasionally rise in the air and then smash back down to the ground, leaving a shockwave of energy that can inflict considerable amount of damage to War if he is nearby.

The Champions are found throughout the game, but quite a handful of them are encountered during the Pigeon Plucking contest with Ulthane in Anvil's Ford. They will appear in packs, but War can easily dash out of the way to avoid them. During this battle sequence, War can acquire a Redemption Canon, making these Champions much easier to defeat.

[edit] Appearance

Angelic Champions are Large Angelic warriors wielding huge shields along with an energy sword. Their wings are gold rather than blue in order to show their rank among the Hellguard.
