[edit] Darksiders

War gains the Shadowflight ability very early on in the game after completing the Twilight Cathedral. Once he brings the Heart of the Chosen to Samael, he is ordered to kill The Watcher by Samael. He does not end up doing so, but the pressure brings out War's Chaos Form.

War can use his Chaos Form after his Chaos Meter has filled up completely. War slowly gains chaos by defeating various enemies. Regardless of which items War uses, his Chaos meter will slowly fill up as he defeats enemies. However, it fills up more rapidly when War defeats enemies with the Chaoseater.

Once War is in his Chaos Form, he transforms into a hulking beast capable of destroying virtually any enemy that steps in his way. Even some of the strongest enemies in the game such as the Trauma can be defeated with five strikes while War is in chaos form. The chaos meter will slowly start to deplete and upon full depletion, War will revert back to his regular form.

War can later acquire the Legendary Enhancement War's Glory, which will drastically increase the amount of time War remains in Chaos Form for. It also causes War's Chaos Meter to fill up more rapidly.

Despite its massive powers, War is unable to use his Chaos Form in the final battle with Abaddon.

When War first acquires the Chaos Form ability, he will also gain the Don't Make Me Angry, Achievement or Trophy. This is one of the required achievements featured in the game.

[edit] Darksiders II

In Darksiders II, Death has a similar ability that is known as Reaper Form.
