The Chaoseater is War's massive and powerful sword and primary weapon in Darksiders. The blade is tightly connected to its owner and master - just as War lost most of his powers so has his weapon been stripped of them. However, as War slowly regains his lost strength so is his sword thus it can be upgraded throughout the journey to increase its destructive power and abilities. It will also be briefly replaced with Crystal Sword while solving puzzles in Twilight Cathedral and will permanently be replaced by Armageddon Blade near the end of War's quest for justice.

It is not clear how exactly War obtained this powerful sword for the first time. It has, however, been with him to every battle decimating his foes - Angels and Demons alike.
After being separated from War for a century they reunite after the Apocalypse prologue. It is the very first item that War acquires after the Apocalypse while having an audience with the Charred Council.

As War uses the Chaoseater to attack and slay enemies, he will collect Chaos energy that is stored away - thus the name. Once this energy is maximized, it can be released to unleash War's Chaos Form. War will then temporarily take on a massive form in which it sword strikes are incredibly powerful. While the Chaos Form lasts, Chaoseater just like its master changes in terms of appearance as much as power.

Second only to the Armageddon Blade in terms of sheer power of destruction. Although it is not the fastest weapon it has a very good proportion of attack speed, power and range.

War has a number of different attacks that he can use in combat. Many of these are with him from the start of the game, while others he can purchase from Vulgrim as he progressing through the game. Several of his attacks can be used back to back in long combos to do significant damage.
