Mercy is one of Strife's pistols. War acquires Mercy in Darksiders. It is one of the few weapons that War can use while riding on Ruin. It is unclear if these are actually Strife's pistols, or just replicas.

[edit] Overview

On the battlefields of the ruined Earth, the pistol known as Mercy would seem modest. With four barrels ornamented by simple depictions of smoke and flame, it is easily dwarfed by weapons wielded by angels and demons alike. Yet it is far deadlier than any firearm I have seen.

Mercy generates its own supply of lethal bullets. The rate of fire is defined only by how quickly its master can pull the trigger. In skilled hands, the gun's endless fusillade of bullets can cut down an entire enemy regiment. Although this weapon has yet to surface on Earth, I feel it, somewhere, close at hand.

The Art of Darksiders description.

[edit] Darksiders

War acquires Mercy after defeating The Griever within The Hollow. After defeating The Griever, War returns to Anvil's Ford where he bumps into Ulthane. Ulthane can be seen hammering on his anvil, where he will fix up Mercy and give the weapon to War. When War first acquires Mercy, he will earn the An Old Friend Achievement or Trophy.

Mercy has an endless supply of ammo that continuously is regenerating. Thus, War never has to worry about reloading the handgun or ever running out of ammo.

[edit] Uses

Mercy can be used against a whole bunch of enemies throughout War's quest, but it is only required in select portions of the game. Mercy is one of the items that War can use while he riding on Ruin. In particular, War must use Mercy while he is fighting with an Ashworm, found within The Ashlands. It is also required to defeat the third major boss in the game, The Stygian, which is one of the Chosen.

[edit] Upgrades

There is one upgrades that War can purchase for Mercy. This upgrades becomes available immediately after War acquires Mercy can speaks with Vulgrim.

  • Impact Rounds: Can be purchased for 4000 Souls. This upgrades causes Mercy to do more damage and also fire at a faster rate.

[edit] Darksiders II

Death acquires Redemption, Strife's other pistol. It works very similar to Mercy and Death can use it to solve certain puzzles and defeat smaller enemies. Death will need to use Redemption when fighting with the Guardian, the boss battle of The Foundry. He will need to shoot the bombs that are on the Guardian's hand, sending him falling to the ground.

[edit] Trivia

  • Despite Mercy being a handgun, it is not War's most powerful item in his arsenal. This challenges the common saying, 'Never bring a knife to a gunfight'.
