The Stygian is a giant Ashworm found within The Ashlands.

A century of feasting on the remains of man has only whet the appetite of massive demonic worms.
Demon bands have entered the wastes, only to disappear amid distant plums of ash and razor fins. The half-eaten survivors speak of craggy skin that blunts even the sharpest blade, and terrifying mouths that open like black holes. The perverse pleasure in their voices when they describe such horrors... it is no small wonder the demons have raised an arena above the ash, where they can sate their unending bloodlust.

The Stygian is one of the five Chosen demons by The Destroyer. It resides in The Ashlands along with its fellow Ashworms. Being the king of the Ashworms, The Stygian is much bigger, stronger, faster, and is even treated as a threat by the lesser demons within the Ashlands. When War first encounters the giant ashworm, it is chained up, and also has a metal casing over its mouth, preventing it from biting or eating any of its foes.
After War acquires Ruin in the Colosseum, he can freely run across the sands of the Ashlands. War will first need to break the mask off of The Stygian's face, before he is able to defeat the boss and take the Heart of the Chosen.
After War defeats The Stygian he will earn the Ashes To Ashes Achievement or Trophy.
