[edit] Overview

The Voidwalker does what no mere weapon can: It opens a hole in reality itself.

This arcane artifact seethes with energy, which can be fired through the veil of the universe. When two such perforations are made, dimensional space curves back upon itself - and Voidwalker's holes are connected. To step into one hole is to exit the other to a new location. Thus, the Voiwalker's master can weave his way through the byzantine wastes, to access every bloody nook and corpse-filled cranny.

[edit] Darksiders

The Voidwalker is the dungeon item found within The Black Throne in Darksiders.

[edit] Acquiring the Voidwalker

While War is in The Black Throne, his primary mission is to free Azrael. War will acquire the Voidwalker early on in the dungeon and will use it to bring the beams of light to Azrael. Once War acquires the Voidwalker, he will earn the Into The Void Achievement or Trophy.

[edit] Uses

The Voidwalker can be used on preset orange circles found within The Black Throne and throughout the game. Use the Voidwalker once will create an orange warp portal. Using the Voidwalker on a second preset circle will create a blue warp portal. War can then toss items through the portal or even travel through the portal himself. If War uses the Voidwalker on a third circle, this will cause the first portal to disappear, the second portal will change from blue to orange, and the new third portal will be blue.

If War charges the Voidwalker before hitting a warp portal, this will greatly increase the exit speed when War travels through the portal. This is used to reach higher or distant platforms from when War exists the portal.

In solving puzzles within The Black Throne, War will need to use the Voidwalker to open portals, sending beams of light through them. At times, War needs to move these warp portals and create new holes with the Voidwalker to bring the beams of light back to Azrael in the main room.

War can also use the Voidwalker through existing warp portals. At times there are warp portals created on moving objects and if War looks through the holes created, he can see further potential warp portals. War can use the Voidwalker through the existing hole to create a new warp portal.

The Voidwalker is a required item in defeated Straga within The Black Throne. It is also required to acquire Death's Blessing found within the Scalding Gallow.

[edit] Darksiders II

The Voidwalker serves a similar purpose in Darksiders II as it does in the original Darksiders. Death can use it to create two portals that he can poss through to reach previously unreachable surfaces. Death is also able to use the Voidwalker offensively in combat, dropping enemies on hazards. Later in the game this item gets an upgrade giving it even more flexibility.

[edit] Trivia

  • The Voidwalker is likely a reference to the Portal Gun from the Valve' 2007 hit game Portal. There are many similarities, such as the actual portals appearing in the same orange and blue color. However, there are a few notable differences. War's momentum through the portal is different than from the Portal series, and also, War has the ability to use the Voidwalker to create portals through existing portals.
